Week 116 and Sophia's turn to update the blog (even though it is Wednesday - it's been a busy start to the week).

The Monday of week 116 was a public holiday here - Queen's Birthday. We went for a family trip to Butterfly Creek - a combined playground, cafe, petting zoo, train ride and butterfly haven. Joseph wasn't too fussed/impressed by the butterflies but he did love the petting zoo. He got a hold a baby rabbit and also petted a big rabbit. He then regaled us with tales about the Easter Bunny, how he twitches his nose and lives in the forest and does magic. We are quite astounded he remembers this much about the story as Easter was a few months ago now.

He wasn't too keen on going on the train (a lame/sedate two lap circuit of the grounds!) but we gradually edged closer to the train until we were actually sitting in one of the carriages. He clung to Dan (just like when we went on the "real" trains a while ago!).

We have been trying to encourage good dental hygiene habits with Joseph (we have a dentist appointment mid-July - can't wait for that!!)...we have varying levels of success ranging from a wide open mouth and lots of compliance to it being a two man job with one of us having to pin Joseph down and the other doing some quick no frills brushing! Here's a shot of success!

The week culminated on Saturday morning with a haircut at Kids R Hair (our second trip there). Joseph has inherited Dan's quick growing hair and even though it is winter, it definitely needed a cut. Despite me talking up the haircut all week with promises of special treats afterwards...this is the during picuture....

And here is the after...we asked for it to be super short so we can minimise the frequency of visits! It is very short and he looks very much like a "big boy". Unfortunately, most of the blond has been cut out so it's a bit mousy at the moment! The haircut has been a big hit with Cole at Bear Park - apparently he has been asking for a haircut too!

A post script on number 2...we went to see Philip (obstetrician on the 28th of May) and the baby had had an impressive weight gain, up 700gm (to 2.7kg) in two weeks (no wonder my clothes are starting not to fit!). He still can't give me an updated time/slot for the delivery. We're off to see him again tonight (Joseph's coming too!) so I'm hoping for something more concrete in terms a delivey date (I am having a caesarean section - baby is anticipated to be as big as Joseph and Joseph got a bit stuck on the way out - we want to avoid any damage to me or the baby!).
